Cameron Mackenzie
Cameron is probably Australia’s most awarded gin distiller and one of the world’s foremost authorities on creating world-class juniper-based spirits.
He is largely responsible for our (not so) little gin business winning International Gin Producer of the Year at the International Wine & Spirit Competition, not once, not twice, but three times (2019, 2020 & 2023) and has collected more than 50 gold medals and trophies for his gins at prestigious competitions across the globe.
In 2023 he was awarded Master Distiller of the Year at the UK Icons of Gin Awards, and in 2024 he made history as the second Australian, and 20th person overall, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Gin Magazine’s World Gin Awards. Just a few months later he also became the seventh inductee into the Australian Distillers Hall of Fame.
So yeah, he's kind of a big deal in the gin world, and not just to us!
Before throwing his lot into the production of craft spirits, Cam was a fifteen year veteran of the wine trade having made, sold, marketed and judged many of Victoria’s best known wine brands. Before that, he had an athletic career that saw him represent Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in the 4x400m track relay (semi-finalists).
Cameron has used his intuitive understanding of flavour and balance to become a real expert at the craft of distillation and his love for Wilma, the copper CARL gin still named after his late mother, knows virtually no bounds.
