THE BEST GINS IN AUSTRALIA

YOU’VE GOT GIN QUESTIONS, WE’VE GOT THE ANSWERS.

WHAT IS THE BEST GIN FOR A GIN AND TONIC?

All of our gins make a tasty Gin & Tonic, but our classic G&T is made with Rare Dry Gin, our original (and still our favourite) gin. We wanted to create a gin that represents our idea of contemporary Australia: classic, approachable, spiced to perfection and lifted with great citrus. Above all, dangerously delicious and made to enjoy in one of the world’s best gin drinks, a G&T garnished with a juicy slice of orange.

WHAT IS THE BEST GIN FOR A NEGRONI?

Spiced Negroni Gin was the first-ever gin created specifically to go in a Negroni cocktail. It is a highly aromatic, rich and (yes) spicy gin with great power and intensity.

We wanted to create a gin with flavours that complemented yet perfectly cut through the sweet vermouth and bitterness of Campari. We think it’s the perfect gin for balancing the three ingredients used to create this beautifully complex but simply delicious drink.

WHAT IS THE BEST GIN FOR A MARTINI?

Olive Leaf Gin is our savoury gin, absolutely perfect for a Martini. The aroma, flavour and texture provided by olives is stunning. So we’ve made this gin by distilling three types of cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil and olive leaf tea from the world-class groves of Victoria’s Cobram Estate.

Along with the cold-pressed olive oils and olive leaf, we used other savoury botanicals like rosemary and bay leaf, while native macadamia nuts and lemon myrtle make the gin distinctly modern Australian. All in all, we believe the texture and flavour profile of Olive Leaf Gin make it the ideal Martini gin.

WHAT ARE THE BEST GIN COCKTAILS?

One of the greatest things about gin is the variety of different cocktails that can be made to suit everyone’s taste, and this has lead to some of the world’s most famous drinks being gin drinks. Whether you’re after something potent like a Martini or a more bittersweet Negroni, something tall and refreshing like a Tom Collins, something citrusy like a Gimlet or Southside or something with a touch of sweetness like a Clover Club, gin has all bases covered!

WHAT ARE THE BEST GIN MIXERS?

Mixing gin with tonic water is undoubtedly the most common way gin is consumed around the globe, and lucky for gin drinkers, the quality and choice of mixers continues to improve.

At Four Pillars we recommend different mixers for different gins depending on which gin you’re drinking. Choosing your mixer is not limited to tonic and should be based on what will complement the flavours of the particular gin.

For example, our Navy Strength Gin is distilled with fresh ginger and lime which means it makes a great Ginger Mule with ginger ale or beer.

For a gin with a little bit of sweetness, like our Bloody Shiraz Gin, try mixing it with something more tart to balance it out, like a bitter lemon tonic.

Looking at what kind of ingredients the gin has been made with will give a good indication of an appropriate mixer to match!

WHAT IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE BEST GIN IN AUSTRALIA?

Australia is the home of some wonderfully creative and talented people, as well an incredibly diverse assortment of native ingredients and flavours. This combination has lead to the creation of some of the world’s best gins.

Since Four Pillars released our original Rare Dry Gin back in 2013, the quality of gins across Australia has consistently grown, and Australians’ demand for them with it. We are proud to be able to say throughout this time we have been Australia’s top choice when it comes to home grown gin.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE BEST GIN IN THE WORLD?

We have always strived to produce some of the most unique and delicious gins in the world; always being driven by flavour and not awards.

We have, however, been delighted to receive a wide array of awards recognising our efforts over the course of our journey, the highlight being named the International Wine and Spirits Competition’s Best Gin Producer two years in a row in 2019 and 2020. We then won again in 2023, making Australia’s favourite gin officially the world’s best.
